When I was about age 6 my parents separated. My Mom was lonely, probably felt scared and began to use me as a substitute for my Dad. Though there was no overt incest, mine could best be described as covert incest. I slept in my Mom’s bed until I was seventeen years old. My Dad was not around and when he was he was angry and abusive. I had no idea the confusion and suffering this would cause as I became an adult. Through a lot of hard work and therapy I have learned to re-parent myself. It’s taken 35 years of effort and desire. I really believe in the work and purpose of this foundation, being so fully aware of the devastating problems and suffering childhood sexual abuse causes. I know that with intention and desire it is possible to grow and change, and lead a happy fulfilling life.
