126 - Tom S. (United States) |
Until 2 years ago I was a survivor of child sexual abuse. This means that I was reasonably successful at hiding the self-destructive behaviors, the depression and confused boundaries from others. It was not until I joined a support group that I learned that I could do better than jsut survive, that I could have victory. As a result, I have true joy in my life, I have honest and sincere friendships without anxiety and live life looking forward, not backward. I have been able to use the experiences of my youth to write a book (Terrible Things Happened to Me) and serve as Executive Director of VOICE Today, Inc. which is dedicated to breaking the silence and the cycle of child sexual abuse.
