"My name is Amy and I am a survivor of childhood sexual abuse that began when I was about two years old--probably shortly after this photograph was taken. As far as I can remember, the physical abuse stopped when I was about twelve years old, but it was replaced by a family system full of psychological and emotional abuse, lies, and manipulation that lasted through my college years. I share my story here for a few reasons: 1) to give the world one more face, and thus one more concrete example, of the reality of childhood sexual abuse in America; 2) to give other survivors one more face of someone who knows the depths of darkness and evil they have been through, because knowing you're not alone is a big step in the recovery process; and 3) to share my story of hope and recovery, which can be found on my blog, at: http://amysorrells.wordpress.com. Healing mercies to all of you beautiful, precious survivors!"
